Feel better before considering surgery.

Non-surgical options for hip and knee arthritis.

Choose a clinic

There is more than one way forward.

Exercise, physiotherapy and selected injections may help you move more comfortably. We discuss evidence, suitability, risks and costs together in clinic.

Exercise and physiotherapy

Building strength around your hip or knee can make everyday movement feel easier and help you stay active with more confidence. We can find a starting point that suits you, and I can refer you to a physiotherapist for a tailored exercise plan.

Steroid injections

A steroid injection is an established way to calm the inflammation that can come with arthritis or joint degeneration. It may ease a painful flare, helping you move more comfortably and get back to exercise and daily activities.

Ostenil Plus and hyaluronic acid

Hyaluronic acid is a natural part of the fluid that helps a joint glide smoothly. An injection such as Ostenil Plus aims to add cushioning and lubrication, which may ease pain and stiffness.

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP)

PRP uses a sample of your own blood to concentrate platelets and their growth factors. The aim is to support the joint's natural repair response and calm inflammation, with the potential to ease symptoms. The regenerative idea is to encourage a healthier environment inside the joint and support more comfortable movement. PRP is described for discussion and is not currently bookable with Mr Shah.

Arthrosamid for knee osteoarthritis

Arthrosamid is a hydrogel injection that settles into the lining of the knee joint, helping to cushion it. For some people with knee osteoarthritis, it may ease pain and stiffness and make daily activities more comfortable. We welcome self-pay enquiries about this option.

Arthrosamid for knee osteoarthritis

An option for painful knee arthritis.

Arthrosamid is a single hydrogel injection designed to ease pain and stiffness, helping you move more comfortably in everyday life.

A cushion that stays put

The water-based gel settles into the tissue lining the knee joint, adding cushioning where it is needed. Unlike a steroid injection it is not absorbed, so the cushioning is designed to last.

One visit, no surgery

Treatment is a single outpatient injection with local anaesthetic. Most people are back to their usual routine quickly - without an operation.

Newer treatment, three years in my clinics

Arthrosamid is a newer option, and I have been using it for three years. UK five- and ten-year results are still being gathered - I will talk you through the evidence honestly so you can decide with confidence.

Is it right for you?

If knee pain is holding you back, Arthrosamid may be worth considering. We will look at your symptoms and scans together - suitability is always discussed in clinic before any treatment.
